A climate action plan provides a detailed and strategic framework for measuring and planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while also building community resilience to prepare for climate change impacts.

In short, it is a tool for articulating how your community will proactively mobilize around a more livable future.

Your community’s climate action plan should propose specific mitigations that will reduce emissions, like:

Promoting clean and renewable energy
Greening transportation
Future-proofing new construction and major renovations
Reducing emissions from existing buildings

As well as adaptations to mitigate the effects of climate change, like:

Infrastructure upgrades
Disaster management plans
Water conservation
